Finding stories in our daily lives

My Story

A little bit about me…

Art teachers gave me my love of art and painting.  My aunt lived next door to an artist who painted porcelain – I was in awe of her delicate flowers and seashells that glowed from those precious surfaces.  She, and later my high school art teacher, would demystify the process for me.  I was learning from people who were making art and they were happy to show me the way – I had hit the jackpot! As I got older, I continued to find people who were happy to share their ideas and techniques with me, so I guess it was no great surprise when I decided to study to become an art teacher myself.  The more you share the more you learn.

Since becoming a teacher, I have found myself exploring many modes of making art, but most consistently coming back to painting. The subject matter I tend to explore comes from my observations of my environment and everyday life and I’ve found myself, more and more, exploring colour.  I’m still learning, still experimenting and still loving the journey - happy to have you along.
